The genuine friendliness of the two owners; The information on eating places and tours; The attention to detail in the hotel e.g. wonderful decor; Substantive breakfast.

A comfortable, quiet, small, very clean hotel on a main street in Reykjavik. The two person staff was extremely dignified, polite and helpful, and they provided small amenities that made my stay seem extra personal. The wireless access was excellent. The breakfast was simple and good.

The hotel has a rigid check-in policy, so travelers who arrive before 14:00 and need immediate rest may think twice about this hotel. It did not matter to me, but other travelers should know that the hotel has no lobby, or lift, and entry into the main door of the hotel is by buzzer.

one of the best hotels I have ever used...spotless...only 9 rooms, only about 100 yds from the bus station..the host was the most helpful and considerate person you will ever meet...the rooms are large and comfortable and along with the bathroom absolutely spotless. I have travelled the world and can honestly say this rates in the top 3...there is an excellent Scandinavian breakfast buffet that is included in the room rate which for Reykjavik Iceland was very reasonable..I would absolutely stay there again...and will recommend this hotel to anyone...if the word cosy appeals to you then you will be happy really is like a high class hotel...loved it!!!

    Beautifull but small rooms

Staff can be a bit grumpy but once you get to know them better are friendly

  • Older travelers

Beautiful furnishings, quiet, excellent location, delicious breakfast, on street free parking, roomy, pleasant staff, reasonable price

the room was too warm as window couldn't be opened

Location is excelent. The room was very comfortable, cozzy and clean. I valued wi-fi connection at my room. Breakfast has a balanced selection of good quality products. On top of that, people at the hotel are extremely kind and helpful. Two truly gentelmen. A great place for a solo female traveler.

  • Older travelers

Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Gave great advice about what to see and do, where to eat and booked our tour buses. The owner even phoned the bus company when our bus was late. Nothing was ever a bother to them. Tour bus picked us up right outside hotel. Room spotless. A sweet was left on your pillow each evening. Breakfast was good but maybe a few extras such as rolls or coissants would have been good for someone who doesn't like meats and cheese. Coffee and orange juice lovely! Weather report was the table Location very good - walking distance from centre and shore front. Although hotel felt more like a Bed and Breakfast would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Smell of sulphur from shower when on.

Fantastic hotel, I absolutely fell in love with it and the owners, worth much more than its 2 star rating. Very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Beautifully decorated rooms, excellent beds and modern bathrooms with hair dryer, towel dryer and magnifying mirror. The hotel was exceptionally clean, I am an extensive traveller in business and in private since 30 years and I have never been to a cleaner hotel. The place is spotless. The staff take pride in taking good care of the hotel and its guests. You feel that they sincerely put their heart into their work. Wireless internet connection worked well. Excellent staff, they are very friendly and helpful. They carried luggage to and from your room. After I came back to the hotel after the day out blinders in my room were pulled down and there was always a sweet on my pillow. There was a safe and a mini bar in the room. Front door was locked. Guests would ring the doorbell and the staff would let you in. I found no problem with this, they opened quickly even when I returned at 1 am. In this way the staff could also control that only the guests were allowed to come in. The hotel has a beautiful back garden where guests can sit when weather is fine. Breakfast is enough, bread, butter, jam, cheese, ham, yogurt, cornflakes, cucumber , tomatoes, eggs. Staff serve you coffee, tea and juice. Some complain about the breakfast but it is good. If you are hungry eat more and ask the staff to bring more if there is lack of something. Classical music is played for breakfast and there is a weather report for the day on each table in the breakfast room. Easy access to city center, shops and restaurants nearby so you coud dine out or pick take away dinner or coffee and bring to your room. The day I left the hotel there was a sweet poem on my pillow. If you are looking for individuality and great service then this is yhe place. When I return to Reykjavik there will not be any other option for me but to stay in this wonderful hotel again.

Remember, there is no lift so guests must be able to climb stairs

The room on the 3rd floor was delightful, with a spacious very pretty sitting area, a large foyer with beautiful desk, and loft bed with skylight. The included breakfast was delicious. The whole place is extremely attractive.

This is not something I disliked, but rather a comment: Important to check with guest that they can manage the very steep stairs/ladder to the loft bed. I had to be very careful and cling to the railing, and I'm healthy! The daytime staff person (owner) is surprisingly curt and unhelpful. I think I read something about this on Trip Advisor, too. The night person (other owner) is fabulous! And I assure you I'm a very low-maintenance guest. :-)

  • Group of friends

The hotel and room was very clean, neat and nice. Old fashioned central European / British style, but the furniture and decor is new and well maintained. Location is quiet, a bit out of the center, but it takes only a few minutes by foot to the center as the center is quite compact. The owner is extremely helpful: carriers your bags, helps with the bookings, takes care that you won't be late and chats. A nice garden. Very good price - quality ratio in reykjavik.

The breakfast was ok, but could be more varied. No fruit, sweets or skyr. Fine for a couple nights' stay. For those who like anonymous, big hotels, very central location or ultramodern style, this hotel might not be the best choice.

  • Older travelers

I liked the hotel staff. They made their best for us to feel comfortable.

I had a very pleasant stay here. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is comfortable, quiet and super clean. I had a spacious room and breakfast was good. The location is nice, short walking distance from the city center. I would definitely come back.

The hotel staff was very helpful and has great local knowledge. They want to make sure that I get the best of my experience and don't get ripped off by tour operators etc. They are also flexible and willing to help.
